Bonnie Cohen’s Artwork Selected for The Mosaic Arts International Exhibition 2009

Bonnie Cohen's Architectural Mosaic Installation “ I Plant for my Children “has been accepted into Mosaic Arts International 2009 which will be at the Museum of Man in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. Held in conjunction with The Society of American Mosaic Artist's annual conference, the juried exhibition presents the best in contemporary mosaics from SAMA's diverse international membership. Mosaic Arts International 2009 will be on exhibition for a full two months, February 28th - April 26th


The exhibition unites compelling materials, innovative design, and masterful technique as explored by artists currently working in the medium. Categories include 2D, 3D, and Architectural Mosaics. The artwork chosen to be in this prestigious exhibition was commissioned by Temple Beth Ami in Rockville Maryland. Located in the lobby of the Temple, the mosaic artwork measuring eight feet by eleven feet is comprised of hand crafted ceramic tiles . Several clay techniques were used to create the rich textural quality of the tiles such as carving, sculpting, appliqué, and stamping.
