Donor Recognition

“It is a tree of life to all who grasp it, and whoever holds on to it is happy; its ways are ways of pleasantness, and all it paths are peace. (Proverbs 3:17-18)

These words inspired the WHC Tov Fund Logo – a beautiful tree graced with the hands of all who fulfill the mitzvoth of our Torah. These same words inspired the design of this donor recognition project.

It is a tree of life that honors Rabbi Lustig and the members of Washington Hebrew Congregation who, with their hands and their hearts, reach out to those in need each day.

It is a tree of life with words of action: repair, plant, heal, nourish, lift up and protect.

It is a tree of life signifying the values of our Torah: justice, understanding, compassion and mercy.

It is a tree of life with branches that curve and spread their golden glow; coming together to stand tall and beautiful as a tribute to God’s commandments.

It is a tree of life with leaves that come in all sizes, colors and shapes.

It is a tree of life with hands of action that reach out in all directions.

It is a tree of life who’s shimmering light rises from darkness to light just as the “work of our hands” bring light into the lives of those in need.

It is a tree of life that is mindful of our world’s future, incorporating sustainable materials of recycled glass, metal and clay.

It is a tree of life that honors the generous donors and enhances their good deeds; fulfilling the commandment of “hiddur mitzvah” (beautifying the commandments.)

It is a tree of life handcrafted with honor and gratitude for the opportunity to create a piece of art to inspire and enhance a wonderful congregation.
